It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alfred E. Schaeffer of Menno, South Dakota, who passed away on August 26, 2020, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his children, Alfred and Leona; his siblings, Marvin Schaeffer, Sally Fischer, Arnold Schaeffer, Verina Tiede, Elton Schaeffer and Johannes; his siblings-in-law, Mary Jane Schaeffer, Ginny Schaeffer, Leila Schaeffer, Lorraine Schempp, Elton Tiede, Calvin Rempfer, Wilfred Schempp and Emil Fischer; his wife Leona; his children, Doug Schaeffer (Linda), Marcella Cass (Curtis), Ken Schaeffer (Lori), Cheryl Fischer (Bill) and Larry Schaeffer (Cheryl); and also, William and Anna Schaeffer (Bender).
A trendsetter, Alfred was one of the first to have 30-inch rows and he was one of the very first to raise foundation soybean seed.
