He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Mettler and Elisabeth Mettler (Stoebner); his wife Bernice Knodel; his son Michael; his siblings, Leroy Mettler and Priscilla Heckenlaible; and his siblings-in-law, Raymond, Clifford Knodel, Ray Heckenlaible and Kathleen Mettler.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Steven Knodel (Shirley) of Freeman, SD, Keith Knodel (Betsy) of Freeman, SD, Karen Nealis (Jon) of Lexington, KY, Kelly Knodel (Laura) and Patricia McMahon (Jim); and his sisters-in-law, Viella Knodel of Freeman, SD and Verna Knodel.
