He was predeceased by: his spouse LoDema Sibley; his daughter Stacy; his brother Delbert; and his sister-in-law Corrine Kirkus. He is survived by: his children, Douglas Kirkus (Susan), Denise DeKruif (Lyle) of Mitchell and Kevin Kirkus (Kristy) of New Hampton, IA; his grandchildren, Danielle DeKruif of Mitchell, Brant DeKruif (Kimberly) of Dell Rapids, Michael Kirkus (Amelia) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Jamie Shatek (Brad) of Elma, IA; his stepgrandson Scott Thomas of Brookings; his great grandchildren, Sophia Shatek and Henry DeKruif; his nephew Chris Kirkus of Sioux Falls; and his niece Kelly Hinds (Bill) of Aberdeen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
