He was predeceased by: his parents, John Quincy and Eleanor Marie Travis (Falcon); his daughter Joy Lynn; his wife Joyce; and his sister Joan Dyer.

He is survived by: his son John Jr. (Tomi) of Mound City; his granddaughters, Heather Travis of Mound City and Jennifer Travis of Aberdeen, SD.; his great grandchildren, Alex and Layla; and his sister Jean Opheim of McMinnville, Oregon..
