It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Merchen of Norris, South Dakota, who passed away on June 4, 2021, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, James Edward and Margaret Ellen Merchen (Gibson); his siblings, Frank, Florence and Eldon; and his sisters-in-law, Sheila Merchen and Jean Merchen.
He is survived by: his former wife Luella Heckenlaible; his daughter Sherry Aldridge (Chris) of Rapid City; his grandchildren, Wade of Sturgis, Clint Leatherman of Sturgis and Whitney Zylstra (Michael) of White, SD; and his siblings, Lynn (Audrey) of Newcastle, Wyo, Clayton, Norris, Ralph (Susan) of Custer, Lawrence of Sturgis, Margaret Pike of Denver and Kathy Merchen of Denver. He is also survived by three great grandchildren.
