He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Rasmussen of Gregory, SD; his children, Aaron Russell of Kansas City, MO and Erica Hokanson (DeWayne) of Newcastle, WY; his brother David Gnirk (Elaine) of Burke, SD; and his grandchildren, Daniel Peterson (Heather) of Rapid City, SD, Kristina Paulson (David) of Laramie, WY and Alexander Hokanson (Windy) of Cheyenne, WY.
While ranching, he also continued to serve SDSM&T and the State of SD, donating his time and expertise to a variety of projects and organizations.
