He was predeceased by: his parents, A. Melvin Stavig and Edna Stavig (Donat); his wife Kathleen Rye; his son Jeffrey; his brother Roger Stavig; his brothers-in-law, Elser Rye (Mae) and Loren Rye; and his parents-in-law, Ernest and Agnes Rye.
He is survived by: his daughter Debra Zubke (Lynn) of Webster, SD; his granddaughters, Lindsey Thames (Chris) of Sioux Falls, SD and Emily Frankenstein of Lake City, SD; his great grandchild Christopher Thames V; his stepgrandchildren, Joe Zubke (Deidra) of Bristol, SD and April Ries (Ben) of Watertown, SD; and his siblings-in-law, Marlyn Rye (Cheryl) of Pierpont, SD, Wendell Rye (Charla) of Claremont, SD and Betty Stavig of Webster, SD. He is also survived by five step great-grandchildren.
