He was predeceased by : his parents, Edward Zelmer and Bertha Zelmer (Wall); his granddaughter Lisa Howard; and his siblings, Erna, Minerva, Donna Lee, Vivian and Harold.

He is survived by : his wife Connie Holm of Salem; his children, Doug Zelmer (Michelle) of Salem, Tammy Kuusela (Pat) of Madison and Deb Eichacker (Bill) of Salem; and his great grandchildren, Jessica (Wally), Walter, Chloe Byrne, Ryan (Kally), Emerson, Ty Zelmer, Jeremy Mager (Erica Ward), Olivia, Cam Howard (Dani Marquardt), Ellie, Cody Kuusela, Derek Gage (Heather), Madi Eichacker, Darrin Eichacker (Lacey) and Kari Oswald (Scott).
