He was predeceased by : his parents, Louis J. and Martha M. Schimmel (Jacobsen); his spouse Viola M. Wyant; and his daughters, Laurie and Connie.

He is survived by : his grandsons, Chris Schimmel and Cody Tommeraasen; his son-in-law Chuck Tommeraasen; his stepsons, Bob Wyant (Cheryl) of Sioux Falls and Gary Wyant of Sioux Falls; and his stepgrandsons, Mike Wyant and Jon Wyant. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
