It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elwyn Opheim of Mound City, South Dakota, who passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Opheim and Edith Opheim (Hoffman); his sister Fran; his brother-in-law Roy Kempf; his father-in-law Eddie Knecht; and his nephew Thad Martin.
He is survived by: his wife Jalayne; his children, Teri Moser (Wes) and Tom Opheim (Dixie); his grandchildren, Whitney Alexander (Devon), Trevor Moser (Jennifer), Tosha Shores (Brant), Lexi Vega (Jesse) and Cade Opheim (Maria); his great grandchildren, Adri, Marlee, Will Alexander, Torence, Emeryk Moser, Mesa, Boden Shores, Tawnee and Ryann Opheim; his sister Phyllis Martin (LaRue); his mother-in-law Margie Knecht; and his sibling's children, Lori Evans, Leslie Bergh (Doug), Karisa Bohon (Mark) and Randy Kempf (Cindy).
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 5:30 PM at the St. John Lutheran Church (3205 5th Ave, Selby, SD 57472). A prayer will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 29th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
