It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James R. Smalley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who passed away on May 26, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smalley and Mildred Smalley (Marvin); his wife Geraldine Smalley; and his sister Patricia Chamberlin. He is survived by: his children, Jeanne Whitson of Oro Valley, AZ and Jeff Smalley (Pam) of Box Elder, SD; his grandchildren, Jason Smalley (Teri) of Sioux Falls, SD, Jessica Whitson Lewis (Norm) of Mesa, AZ and Jenna Whitson of Oro Valley, AZ; and his great grandchildren, Thomas and Patrick Lewis.
Visitation was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Miller Funeral Home – Downtown Chapel (507 S Main Ave, Sioux Falls, SD 57104). A prayer was held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 3:45 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Rest Cemetery (300 N Chapel Hill Rd, Sioux Falls, SD 57103).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation or the American Cancer Society in James's honor.
