He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Semmler and Thelma Semmler (Roth); and his brother Larry. He is survived by: his siblings, Shirley Buseman of Sioux Falls, Rev. Duane Semmler (Mary) of New London, MN and Wayne Semmler (Nancy) of Sioux Falls; and his siblings' children, Tammy Knudson (Jason) of Mankato, MN, Dr. Sandra Buseman (Greg Gauthier) of Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Semmler (Dan Lee) of Lakeville, MN, Dr. Steven Semmler (Shanna) of Lino Lakes, MN, Matthew Semmler (Kelli) of Harrisburg, SD, Rev. Sarah Semmler Smith (Brahm) of Eau Claire, WI and Jana Greenfield (Lance) of Sioux Falls. He is also survived by 13 great nieces and nephews, extended family and many friends.
