She was predeceased by : her parents, Walter Wallace and Olga Louise Schmeichel (Klepel); her nephew Brian Lee Wellnitz; her niece Anita Luean Wellnitz (Allen); and her sister-in-law Geraldine Schmeichel (Angerhofer).

She is survived by : her former life partner Kenneth George Bowers; her siblings, Sharon Wellnitz (Arnie) of Milbank, SD, Loren Schmeichel (Rita Meier) of Milbank, SD and Dick Schmeichel (Linda Heuer) of Milbank, SD; and her nieces and nephews, Brenda Riggin (Morris), Wayne Schmeichel (Cindy Kim), Kylan Meier (Ashley), Tashal Meier, Shalya Polanchek (Mike), Terry Wellnitz, Dean Wellnitz (Tiff), Tammy Wojahn (Jason), Leslie Schmeichel, Amanda Steckelberg (Mike) and Josh Schmeichel (Kari). She is also survived by many great nieces, nephews and friends.
