It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laura E. Merkwan of Yankton, South Dakota, who passed away on July 7, 2020, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Alfonse V. Walka and Anna Walka (Renkiewitz); her husband Carson Merkwan; her daughter Carole Wynia; her daughter-in-law Linda Merkwan; and her siblings, Lillian, Mary, Frank, Vincent and Eddie.
She is survived by: her children, Millard "Skip" Merkwan (Laurel) of Gayville, SD, Dr. Gary Merkwan of Yankton and Sally Stucky (Terry) of Yankton; her son-in-law Larry Wynia of Yankton; her grandchildren, Jennifer (Russ Konechne), Scott Wynia (Darla), Shane Wynia, Dr. Steven Wynia (Charina), Amanda Cox (Travis), Carson Merkwan (Courtney), Casey Merkwan (Tina), Robin Husman (Joel), Mathias Stucky (Jamie) of Lennox and Carly Hines (Corey); and her great grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Dagny Anderson, Grace, Jack, Anna Wynia, Ryken, Avery Cox, Gary, Blair, Grant Merkwan, Brix, Axel Merkwan, Ryan, Reese Husman, Josie, Clara, Addy Stucky, Kenzie, Carson and Kate Hines. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
