He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Smith and Ethel Smith. He is survived by: his wife Joan E. Gillen; his children, Laurie A. Yates (Randy) of Franklin, TN and Michael J. Smith (Donna) of Austin, TX; his grandchildren, Ryan Crowley (Lisa), Erin Duncan (William), Maggie Yates, Eddie Yates (Maria), Colter, Calvin and Claire Young; his great grandchildren, John, Annabelle Duncan, Reid and Clara Yates; and his brothers, George A. (Bonnie) of Eldred, Calvin A. (Lillian) of Eldred and Orin K. Smith (Marilyn) of Eldred.
Due to the social circumstances with the pandemic, a private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, with Rev. James Campbell, as celebrant.
