He was predeceased by : his parents, James Monroe Lawson, Sr. and Nannie Mae Lawson (Ledford). He is survived by : his wife Joan Avis Lawson (Ziegler) of Brentwood, TN; his daughter Emma Rebecca Lawson of Brentwood, TN; his siblings, Kathleen Sparkman (Mickey) of Nashville, TN and Stacy Lawson (Terri) of Lebanon, TN; his niece Ryan Kathleen Lawson of Mt. Juliet, TN; and his nephews, Samuel Monroe Lawson (US Navy Veteran) of Mt. Juliet, TN and Corey Wayne Lawson (US Marine) of Covington, KY. He is also survived by his wife and daughter, loving on his many dogs.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Peterson Foundation for Parkinsons, Nashville, TN, or a local humane society.
