He was predeceased by : his parents, W. H. Underwood and Ruth Redmond Underwood; his former life partner Lurleen Patrick Underwood; and his wife Barbara Jean Underwood. He is survived by : his daughter Amy Underwood Swinea (Jerry); his stepchildren, Kevin Stinson and Maria Holland (Kell); his grandchildren, Katie Swinea, Emmy Swinea, Whitney Ellis (Brady), Brandon Holland (Hannah) and Drew Holland (Anna); and his great grandchildren, Liam, Jackson, Lincoln Ellis and Stella Holland.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Woodbine Funeral Home-Hickory Chapel (5852 Nolensville Pk, Nashville, TN 37211). A graveside service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens (9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221).
