It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gretchen Smith Tester of Bristol, Tennessee, born in Elizabethton, Tennessee, who passed away on July 5, 2020, at the age of 75, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Odell Thomas and Maggie Thomas; her former husband Hoover Smith, Sr.; her sisters, Mary Cunningham and JoAnn O'Quinn; and her stepson Gary Wayne Smith.
She is survived by: her children, Hoover Guy Smith, Jr. (Lisa) of Bristol, TN and Valerie Reed (Craig) of Kingsport, TN; her stepchildren, Larry Guy Smith, David Brookshire, Daniel Brookshire and Tammy Paul; her brother Waymond Odell Thomas; and her grandchildren, Nathaniel Bryce Smith, Alexandria Desiree Nickels and Jonathan Connor Cline. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
