He is survived by: his mother Sue Pauline Groves Gaters of Brownsville, TN; his wife Sherri Outlaw Gaters; his son Hunter Gaters (Felicity) of Bells, TN; his brothers, Danny Gaters (Janet) of Brownsville, TN and Walter Gaters of Mercer, TN.; and his siblings' children, Taylor Outlaw, Bradley Gaters, Russell Gaters, Justin Gaters and Stacey Gaters.

The family has requested memorials be made to the charity of the Donor's choice.
