He was predeceased by: his parents, Powhattan Bowling Sexton and Sallie Newsom Dozier Sexton; and his siblings, Powhattan Bowling Sexton, Jr., Margaret Gleaves, Melvin Sexton, Sarah Callis and Frederica Newman.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Sexton; his sister Jean Sexton; his children, Stephen Sexton and Karen Strong of Sandra Goolsby; his stepdaughters, Michelle Garcia, Moriah Garland and Jo Megan Zeferino; and his grandchildren, Jonathan Sexton, Zachary Sexton, Ross Strong, Sadie Bruce, Carrie Morken, Ben Goolsby and Carson Goolsby. He is also survived by 6 step-grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
