He was predeceased by: his parents, James Abel, and Margaret Abel, Sr.; and his wife Marilyn "Marnie" Abel. He is survived by: his daughters, Janet Abel Pickett and Susie Abel Higgins (David); his grandsons, Matthew, Daniel, Jacob Higgins, Adam and Joshua Pickett; his sister Martha Jane Abel Payne; and his sister-in-law Nancy Wagner Hughes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
