He was predeceased by: his parents, John Matthew and Gladys McCarver Matthews; and his sister Rebecca Ann Crow. He is survived by: his wife Sherrie Elliott Matthews; his children, David Allen Braungart (Stephanie) and Tammi Lynn Braungart; his grandchildren, Amber Braungart, Joseph Braungart, Destiny Reed, Jeremy Braungart, Justin Braungart, Hannah Braungart and Shawn Braungart; and his siblings, Peggy Ruynon, Beverley Jewell Beglau, Regina Lorton, Mary Abrahsom, John Richard Matthews Jr. and Sara Lea Matthews.
