He was predeceased by : his parents, Earl Clinton Sanders and Forrest Terry Sanders; and his daughter Betty Sanders. He is survived by : his wife Yoshie Miyatake; his sons, James Sanders (California), Terry Sanders (Georgia) and Grady Sanders, Jr. (Clarksville); and his siblings, Betty Lou Coppinger and Bobby Neal Sanders (Gayle). He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
