He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Burgess and Elizabeth Burgess; his wife Virginia Burgess (Ginny); and his daughter Virginia (Ginger). He is survived by: his siblings, Buck, Pete, Willie, Jewell and Dessie; his children, Reed, Wayne (Susan), Clay (Bobbie) and Barbara Ownby (Doyle); his grandchildren, Amy Womack, Scott, Verbon, Kevin Burgess (Carmen), Richard Ownby (Amy), Callie Falls (Dustin), Jessica George (Jonathan) and Sarah Gould (Richard); his great grandchildren, Lexy Chapman (Ryan), Tucker Womack, Lauren Waddel (Austin), Kolten Burgess, Caleb, Gracie, Kinsley Ownby, Chris, Gabe Falls, Riley George, Abbie, Maddie and Blake Carroll; and his great great grandchildren, Weston Chapman, Tarver, Laurel Waddel and Ava Carroll.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the JIM Rush Funeral and Cremation Services - North Ocoee (2603 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN 37312). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 1st 2025 at 4:00 PM at the North Ocoee Street Chapel of JIM Rush Funeral and Cremation Service (2603 N Ocoee St, Cleveland, TN 37312). A graveside service will be held on Monday, June 2nd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Sunset Memorial Gardens (7180 N Lee Hwy, Cleveland, TN 37312).
