He was predeceased by : his parents, Latta Douglas and Delma Leah Cruise Holladay; his wife Evelyn Frances Gatewood Holladay; his daughter Marsha Faye Holladay; his sister Edna Holladay Cole; his son-in-law James "Jim" Newsom, Jr.; and his grandson James "Jimmy" Newsom.

He is survived by : his daughter Sherrie VanHook (Paul) of Lebanon; his sister Louise Holladay Phillips of Cookeville; his grandchildren, Steven Newsom (Kim), Michelle Shavers (Jason) and Michael Garganta; his great grandchildren, Ana Smith, Jason, Jessica and Jacob Shavers; his niece Pat Radcliff (Dick); his friend Gail Newsom Johnson; and his pet Daisy Mae.
