He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edward Schelby Sr. and Lila "Dolly" Carmean; and his sister Beverly Perez. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Laureen Hill (Danny) of Defiance, OH, Donna Schelby (Patrick Demers) of Beverly Hills, MI and Wade Schelby (Elizabeth "Liz") of Staunton, VA; his grandsons, Logan and Stephen Michael; his sisters, Rebecca "Bec" Dircksen (Dave) of St. Marys, OH, Linda Verhoff (Larry) of Ottawa, OH and Vicki Egbert (Mike) of St. Marys, OH; and his brother-in-law Ray Perez of Lemont, IL..
Visitation was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Zion Lutheran Church (210 N Wayne St, St Marys, OH 45885). A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 29th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
