He was predeceased by : his parents, Estel Layne and Margie Fultz Layne; his wife Candi Reed Layne; his siblings, Rufus Layne and Betty Lovell; and his sister-in-law Dorothy Layne.

He is survived by : his children, Courtney Broome, Cory Layne and Abbie Layne; his siblings, Jerry Layne, Billy Bob Layne (Jean), Donna Bone (Dale), David Layne (Helen), Debra Rogers (Ronnie), MariAnna Davis (Jessie), Fayetta Grayson (Glen) and Dude Layne (Brenda); and his grandchildren, Aden, Beau, Hank and Luke Broome. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
