He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Leslie Hillis and Leona Johnson Hillis; his wife Judy Hillis; his sons, Joel Houston Hillis, Jr. (Maria), Perry David Hillis (Terri) and William James (Cindy); his grandchildren, Mason Hillis, Joshua Hillis (Chrissa), Morgan Hillis and Ethan Hillis; and his sister Camilla Carter (Michael).
