He was predeceased by: his brothers, Howard P. Howland Jr. and Harry D. Howland. He is survived by: his wife Shirley R. Howland; his children, Laurie Dobbs (Bill) and Max William Howland Jr. (Billy); his grandchildren, Ben Goddard (Maicy), William Dobbs, Wallace Dobbs and Presley Dobbs; and his sisters, E. Suzanne Logan and Thelma Jeanne Holland.
