He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edgar "Pete" Hays Sr. and Mildred Evelyn Lowe Hays; his sister Mary Lowe Kiger; his former wives, Linda Ann Rhodes and Judith Carol Cammack; and his wife Donna Flatt.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Schoolfield (Christy) of Defeated, TN, Charles E. "Chuck" Hays, III (Jinna) of Smithville, TN, Daniel Hays (Desiree) of Bell Buckle, TN and Ryan Hays (Brandi) of South Carthage, TN.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Gordonsville Chapel of Bass Funeral Home (71 E Main St, Gordonsville, TN 38563). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
Donations in memory of Mr. Hays may be made to Smith County High School Quarterback Club or to Smith County Humane Society.
