It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Billy Guthrie of Greeneville, Tennessee, born in Vinton, Virginia, who passed away on August 17, 2020, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Guthrie and Lessie Guthrie; his children, Connie Guthrie, Sherry Guthrie, Billy E. Guthrie Jr. and John Allen Guthrie (Nicole Blakley); his grandchild Carly Jo Heffner; his siblings, Imogene Elliott, Janie Owens and J. T. Guthrie; and his cousin Rodney Nunley.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Guthrie; his children, Melody Garrett (Ronnie), Billie Guthrie (Tammy Kiser), Enola Johnson (Randy) and Dixie Smith (Greg); his grandchildren, Garrett Brogden, Alex Lister, Chris Johnson, Grayson Heffner, Taylor Kelton, Morgan Johnson, Lauren Heffner and Dawson Guthrie; his great grandchildren, Carley White, Thornton Shaver, Jack Lister, Owen Shaver, Hannah Kate Lister and Asher Johnson; and his sister Carroll Walker. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
