He was predeceased by: his former wife Nancy Hawkes; and his parents, Herbert L. Hawkes, Jr. and Nell Ramsey. He is survived by: his wife Theodore J. Grace; his daughters, Robin Hawkes (David Tartak) of Sydney and Renne Chipman (Bill Chipman) of Kennesaw; his sister Karen Taylor of Louisville, KY; his aunt Merle Edwards of Greensboro; and his stepchildren, Ellen Smead of Atlanta, Elizabeth Dukes (Brian Dukes) of Greenville and Emily Smead (Renee Trent) of Seymour. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
