She was predeceased by : her husband Charles Stevens; her mother Mai Simpson; her stepfather Albert R. Simpson; her father James Otis Gilliam; and her stepmother Doris Gilliam.
She is survived by : her daughters, Donna Sample and Carolee Stevens; her son-in-law Floyd V. Chuter; her grandchildren, Vince Chuter Jr., Ember Pruitt, Megan Wylie-Sample, Caleb Sample and Faith Sample; her great grandchildren, Logan Pruitt, Alice Pruitt, Edward Chuter, Cayden and Stella Sample; her half-brothers, Mike and Tom Gilliam; and her close friend Terry Driggers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association or The Houston Humane Society.
