He was predeceased by : his parents, Orval Brooks (Toad) and Mary Agnes Wight Brooks; his brothers, Dwight Brooks and Dennis Brooks; and his nephews, Brian and Justin Brooks.

He is survived by : his wife Sue Bane Brooks of Hilham; his children, Jonathan Brooks (Jenny) of Columbia, David Brooks (Erica) of Silver Springs, Maryland, Stacia Brooks (Chris Kales) and Sarah Nichols (Jim) of Frederick, Maryland; his stepdaughters, Denys Harrison of Richmond, IN and Margaret Burkhart of Richmond, IN; his niece Lynn Price; and his grandchildren, Raven Brooks, Erin Nichols and Sebastian Brooks. He is also survived by 5 Step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
