He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest L. Smith and Rachel Smith (Reynolds); his son Jeffrey Smith; and his siblings, Jean Wilson, Wilma McKinney and Ernest R. Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Sue Smith; his children, Barbara Tyson of Huntingdon, David Smith (Pamela) of Seattle and Ricky Smith of Cedar Grove; and his brothers, Murray Smith of Nashville and Marshall Smith (Faye) of Camden. He is also survived by six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
