He was predeceased by: his parents, Claude Nolen and Mildred McCrary Nolen; his son Matthew McCrary Nolen; his sister Linda Dew; and his grandmother Hyde.
He is survived by: his former wife Nancy Lee Thompson of Jamestown; his sons, Christopher Nolen of Gentry and Sean Nolen of Texarkana, Texas; his stepsons, Adam Sorenson of Middleburg and Jason Sorenson of Chesterton, Indiana; and his sister Nell Abney. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren.
