We are sad to announce that on October 18, 2022, at the age of 79, Betty Whittemore-Austin of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Hollie Samples; her former husband Thomas Wayne Whittemore Sr.; her daughter Diane Whittemore; her brothers, Hollie Creed Samples Jr., John Samples and Charles "Chuck" Samples; and her grandchildren, Travis Wayne Campbell and Heather Nicole Campbell.
She is survived by: her husband Julian Austin of Marion, NC; her sons, Tom Whittemore Jr. (Yvette) of Kingsport and Eric Todd Whittemore (Penny) of Johnson City; her sisters, Shelby Head of Jonesborough and Sarah Ethel Samples of Johnson City; her grandchildren, Justin Whittemore (Tiffany), Trey Whittemore, Lauren Mosley (Addison), Ty Whittemore, Hollie Bristol (Byron) and Haley Campbell; and her stepsons, Stephen Edward Austin (Jan) of Georgia and Kevin Roland Austin (Robin) of Marion, NC. She is also survived by several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Unaka Avenue Baptist Church, Johnson City or First United Methodist Church, Marion, NC or the charity of your choice in Betty's memory.
