He was predeceased by: his parents, Allen Blaine and Helen Oliver Smith; and his nephew Steven Allen Nelson. He is survived by: his siblings, Debbie Smith Nelson (Sandy) of Bluff City and Wayne A. Smith (Wanda) of Staunton, VA; his siblings' children, Jack Douglas Nelson (Maggie), Angie Smith Fitzgerald and Kimberly Smith Shiflett (Chris); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Wesley, Kaleb Fitzgerald, Breonnah Fitzgerald and Payton Shiflett; and his close friend Smokey.
