James touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Johnson and Mildred Johnson; and his son Christopher Allen. He is survived by: his wife Evelyn June; his children, Tamela Combs (David), Tina Dalton (Bob) and Tim Larkins (Karisha); his grandchildren, Crystal Jackson (Kevin), Justin Eaves (April), Kristina Grindstaff, Natalie Eaves, Keturah Larkins, Lacey Vines, Jake Larkins (Seanna), Gabe Larkins and Kaya Larkins; and his great grandchildren, Bryce, Tristan Eaves, Riley and Jaxon Grindstaff (family: Greg Holestin, Raegan, Jacob, Logan).
Visitation was held on Friday, August 15th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A graveside service was held on Friday, August 15th 2025 at 11:30 AM at the Happy Valley Memorial Park (2708 Elizabethton Hwy, Johnson City, TN 37601).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in honor of Allen be made to Heartland Fellowship at 211 Heartland Way, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
