It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Aleta J Long of Kingsport, Tennessee, who passed away on May 14, 2023, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Hubert McMurray and Nannie McMurray; her husband James W. Long; her brother Douglas McMurray; and her granddaughter Marina Hawthorne.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Long, Tamela Carter and Cindy S. Hawthorne (John II); her grandchildren, Alice Marie Clark (Andrew), Kiersten Elise Hawthorne, Chris Carter, Shane Long, Kevin Long (Brittany) and John III; her great grandchildren, Lenora, Evangeline and Eleanor Hawthorne; and her sisters, Barbara Guinn and Carolyn Hilton. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
