She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Vermillion and Irene Vermillion; her husband Joe Coates; her daughter JoAnn Surber; and her siblings, Gene Vermillion, Bertha Johnson, Otry Smith and Janie Davis.
She is survived by: her son Tom Coates; her grandchildren, Tammy Clark, Scott Buckles, Tracy Chandler (Brian), Sarah Haynie (Josh) and Ben Coates (Jamie); and her son-in-law Randy Surber. She is also survived by great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Tabernacle Baptist Church (1444 Bloomingdale Rd, Kingsport, TN 37660). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, June 5th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
