He was predeceased by : his parents, Jed T. Smith, Sr. and Ora Summers Smith. He is survived by : his siblings, Jed T. Smith, Jr., James, Harold, Eugene, John, Howard, Mary "Imogene" Cash and Isabelle Lackey; his wife Doris Berney Smith; his sons, Jeffrey Eugene Smith and Michael Berney Smith (Barbara Smith); and his grandchildren, Liam Presley Smith, Audrey Christina Smith and Sadie Reese Smith.

In lieu of flowers you may send memorial contributions to Hanna Cancer Center at UT Hospital or Children's Hospital in Knoxville.
