It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Samuel Liend Johnson Jr. of Knoxville, Tennessee, who passed away on December 1, 2023, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Frances Johnson, and Samuel L. Johnson, Sr.. He is survived by: his wife Linda Jo Johnson (Hackney); his son Robert Johnson; his granddaughter Alexandria Johnson; his cousin Lynda Scott (Charles); his brothers-in-law, Tom Hackney and Kerry Hackney (Debbie); and his niece Laura Hambo (Emir).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The University of Tennessee Music Department.
