He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Mildred Katherine "Kate" Hicks (Crum); his son James Edward Hicks; his parents, David Hicks and Nancy Hicks (Scott); his sisters, Lucinda Vermillion Wright (Hicks), Virgie Klein (Hicks), Elizabeth and Julia Randall (Hicks); his granddaughters, Jennifer Katherine Smith (Thomas) and Mary Christine Thomas; his children, Donald David (Joyce Hicks), Mary Katherine (Thomas), Barry Thomas Hicks and Virginia Terry Hicks; and his siblings, Kenton Kyle and Sarah Helen. He was also cherished by Numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
