He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon and Belva; his siblings, Mable McBee, Alice Marlowe, Kenneth Adkins and E. L. Adkins; and his daughter Karen Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Charolette Adkins of Huntsville, Alabama; his daughters, Brenda Brashear of Knoxville and Patti Preston (Kevin); his grandchildren, Christina Iwamoto (Doug) of Huntsville, Ryan Preston (Katie) of Harvest, Ray Preston (Ariel) of Kingsport, Kyle Brashear (Abby) of Knoxville, Blake Brashear (Annika) of Atlanta and Nichelle Preston of Huntsville; and his brother Homer D. Adkins of Oak Ridge. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandsons.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army.
