She was predeceased by : her parents, Jennie B. Dave Mumford and Curtis Mumford; her sister Viola Whatley; her husband James Roosevelt Black; and her children, Diane and David.

She is survived by : her grandchildren, Monique Walker (Drew), Sierra Bryant, Haley Black, Robin Black and Nneka Steele (Matt); and her great grandchildren, Asia Bryant and Ryan Carolena Walker. She is also survived by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
