He is survived by: his wife Joyce Malone Akers; his children, Tim Lorenza Akers (Jessica) and Regina Westlake; his siblings, Don Wayne Akers, Collene Crumbley, Diann McMahan (Wayne) and Pamela Akers; and his grandchildren, Mason Westlake, Clayton Renza Akers and Anagail Akers. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and family friends.
