He was predeceased by: his parents, John Richard and Maggie Mae Basham Cox; his wife Mary Elsie McCormack Cox; his children, Melba Herriman and Ophia Annette Cox; his great grandchild Gaige Thomas Tanner; and his siblings, Betty Myers, Mary E. Bunch, Lloyd, Joe, Paul, Donald Ross, Allen and Wayne Cox.
He is survived by: his children, Patricia Durre (Marvin) of Morrison, TN, Mildred Myers (David) of Bolivar, TN, Seabert LaRay Cox (Nae) of McMinnville and John Thomas Cox of McMinnville; and his siblings, Lena Sue Perryman (Herbert) of Shelbyville, TN, Edna Hayes of McMinnville, Lucille Bunch of McMinnville, Charlotte Fitts of McMinnville, Barbara Jane George (Ronnie) of McMinnville and Rickey Cox (Mary Ann) of McMinnville. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and one on way; twelve great-great-grandchildren.
