He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Eldora Abshaw Burkes and Henry Burkes; his children, Hank, Samuel, Sarah and Andrew; his former wife Ruth Woodard-Burkes; his son Calvin Lawrence Burkes, Jr.; his wife Christene Lloyd-Burkes; his grandson Calvin Anthony Burkes, III; his siblings, Sarah Burkes-Rawlins, Hank Burkes and Andrew Burkes (Rita); his godsons, Gregory Bacchus and James Bacchus, II; and his siblings-in-law, Hattie B. Williams, Hazel Dyse, Charles E. Lloyd and Willie Larry Lloyd (Mary Ann). He was also cherished by loving nieces and nephews, family and friends.
