He was predeceased by: his wife Martha Claire Stephens; his grandson Aaron Jay Gunnels; and his siblings, Virginia Rommell, Alex Stephens Jr. (Steve), Mary Florence Hamlin and Charles Stephens.
He is survived by: his daughter Cherrie Gunnels (Donald); his grandchildren, David Wayne Gunnels (Rachel) and Dana Marie Yarbrough (Lance); and his great grandchildren, Kayla Bradford (Dustin), Emily Gunnels, Gabbie Gunnels, Magen Gunnels and Aaron Yarbrough. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
